Changed campaign idea

I have decided that i am going to change my campaign idea. After thinking about it i realised that not many people would support my campaign because of these reasons.
  • Unhealthy
  • Shops would loose money and disagree
If thinking about this you start to realise that the campaign which is intended to make people smile will have the opposite affect.

I have decided to change my idea so that whenever you come into college in the morning everyone gets a free smoothie. This is a good campaign idea because not only will it be good for people who like smoothie's but it will help them concentrate in lessons and this makes it easier for the teachers. It is also a much healthier idea for students than one day of free chocolate. I think that other people such as the government would agree with me because the aim of it is to make teenagers in the UK healthier as the number of overweight and obese children in the UK has risen steadily over the past 20 years. In 2004 it was also estimated that 14 percent of boys and 17 percent of girls aged two to 15 were obese.

People that would not be very happy about this would be for example innocent smoothie.

They would not like this idea because if more children when they get to either school or college are having smoothies this may mean that when families go to the supermarket there is no need to get smoothie for their children if they are getting it at school.

However they may like this idea because if we campaigned to get innocent smoothie to supply free smoothies for children every day then they may not get money in the short run. However in the long run this may be a good idea because if children are getting the smoothies at college and they decide they like them on the way home they may decide to get another which is more money for Innocent smoothie.

Campaign about postal workers strike

Today Tom Woodcock came in a talked to us about ideas that we could use to help us with our campaign. He told us that for our campaigns to be successful they would have to be clear, focused and addressed at the right people. He gave us a list of website and ideas that we could use to help us create our campaign.

He told us that we could do letter writing to either the prime minister and local people. He also told us that we could do press release by using
  • Radio
  • Newspapers
  • Websites
  • Television
This campaign is a campaign that Tom woodcock who is the secretary of the cambridge and districts trades union council. He campaigned that people who campaigned to support postal workers on strike. They collected over £300 for the strike fund and distributed 300 leaflets explaining the dispute.

Here is a picture of Tom and his friends campaigning for the postal strikers.

I don't agree with this campaign because i believe that workers should not be payed to not go to work. I believe that if you are not happy with the amount of money you are receiving from your job so much that you are not going to work, then you should either find another job or go to your work and try to campaign instead of going on strike. By going on strike you are not only affecting yourself but you are also effecting other people that are meant to be receiving either letters or packaging.

However on the other hand they are not getting enough money and the Government are cutting their pensions as well . I now can understand why they are on strike but i don't believe that that is the best solution to their problems. Steve Sweeney, Secretary of the Cambridge & Stevenage postal workers support group added " The post office has become a key battle for all those who think ordinary people should not be made to pay for the bankers crisis.

What did i do today?

Today i cut out the stencil for my t-shirt. It took me quite a long time but i was pleased with the final product. Emma the teacher told me that it might be quite hard to paint but if it worked it would look really good.

What am i doing tomorow?

Tomorow i am going to paint my stencil onto my t-shirt. I am not too sure about how it is going to end up but i hope it works.

BLOG REFLECTION

What did i do today?

Today i finished off my Photoshop design. I added bridges to it so that it would be easier to cut it out with a stencil.

What went well and why?

i managed to add bridges this went well because when i print my design out i wont lose the little pieces.

What could i have done differently?

I turned up late today because of the busses, i could have got to the bus stop earlier so i was into college in time.

What do you have to do tomorow?
i have to properly finish the design and then print it out.

I really like this video because they actually go to india and investigate and prove their point. I also like this video because it has more action in it that the other video. I didn't really like the other video because it was just four people sitting round a table discussing the topic.
My point is that by just discussing it they aren't making a difference by doing something about it. I also didn't like the video because

STENCIL ART EVALUATION

DRAWING IMAGE BY HAND
My final piece was very different to the image that i drew in the first place. If i could repeat this i would spend more time drawing my image and look at other idea's to what my drawing could be. I find drawing really hard so i was really impressed with the image that i drew.

Re-creating your design in photoshop
i always find this really hard because i always really like my drawing by hand that i have made and dont ever manage to re-create the exact replica. I have found that i can use photoshop better now i have had much more practice on it i know what tools to use. After i had edited my design i decided that i was going to change it to a picture of Audrey Hepburn. I did this because i saw that other people had used pictures of Maryly Monroe and it looked really cool. Z

Cutting out my stencil in Acetate

I found this part the easiest out of the four stages. Even though it was tricky i found it quite easy to do and i did accidently cut off all her hair but it went with the pictrure

Weekend Homework

T-shirt design campaign idea 1 -

I think that everyone should get free EMA every week. This would improve my life because it would mean that i would have money to pay for the bus and for lunch at college. This would also improve other people's lives aswell especially those who struggle with money.

T-shirt design campaign idea 2 -

I think that everone should have free travel. If there was always free travel it would be easier to get to places and you could travel free by plane, car, bus or bike. It would also mean that we would all have more money.

T-shirt campaign design idea 3 -

An idea that i have had to make people smile is free chocolatte. There were people doing this the other day next to the grafton giving out free aero mint bars. Not only was this making people smile but it was also advertising the chocolate.

New stencil

After editing my design to make a stencil i decided that i didn't want to keep the one i had because i didn't like it and i didn't think it would make a good t-shirt. i then changed it to a picture of Audrey Hepburn.
Here is a picture of my new design

my first design was influenced by my friends and my ipod. I looked through the songs on my ipod and picked the song that had really good lyrics.

This design is influenced from the people in my group. I looked at the designs they were doing and went onto google and picked a famous actress to be my stencil.

Banksy

Banksy is an anonymous english graffiti artist who's stenciling technique is similar to Blek le rat. He does not sell photo's or street graffiti auctioneers have tried to sell his work before but have failed.

here is a picture that i found on his website

i like this picture because it not only is a stencil on the wall but he has added it onto the wall through the double yellow lines.

Stencil design

These are two pictures of my design.
my design is about song lyrics, i got the lyrics from the song 'get shaky' by the ian carey project. i have added pink and black colours as we are only allowed to have two and i have put some of the writing in bold.

A compilation of my acts of kindness from Tom Robbins on Vimeo.

This video is about a man called Troy Kennedy who is doing nice deeds to make people happy. He does several things to entertain people such as, for a day a cafe hands out free pancakes. And also going around with signs saying 'smile' and 'free hugs' I picked this video because i like the idea behind it. To promote this campaign they have added humour and they show Troy Kennedy also interacting with the public.

T-shirt comparison

Threadless website

Here is a picture of the top i found on the website Threadless. I like this top because it has humour on it by the cookie saying to the milk " i love you ". I think that if they made this top in other colours then it would be more popular. The cost of this t-shirt is £30 which i think is quite expensive for the design of this t-shirt. If you also bought this off the internet the price of postage would be £1.50.

I like this top because i wouldn't necessarily wear it but i like that fact that it advertises Breast cancer health Uk. I think this is good because my dad works a cancer surgeon and i like how they haven't just made it for a top but to advertise something. However i think that if they made this t-shirt again they could change it to make it more appealing and attractive. They could use different colours for the t-shirt to make it more interesting, or they could make the logo of breast cancer larger so it was more visible. To buy this top it would cost £12.50 also to add postage it would cost £2.

t-shirt history

Emma's T-shirt blog

The T-shirt evolved from undergarments used in the 19th century, through cutting the one-piece "union suit" underwear into separate top and bottom garments, with the top long enough to tuck under the waistband of the bottoms. T-shirts, with and without buttons, were adopted by miners and stevedores during the late 1800's as a convenient covering for hot environments.

What is a t-shirt?

A T-shirt (or tee shirt) is a shirt which is pulled on over the head to cover m
ost of a person'storso. A T-shirt is usually buttonless, collarless, and pocketless, with a round neck and short sleeves
